Chocolate Cake For Emotional Eaters That's Actually Good For You

So much of eating healthier is about making better food choices and becoming more conscious of how what we eat can either nourish us or feed our problems. For emotional eaters, this is a core principle to master and one that can be so liberating. When you are no longer bound by the cycle of binge and regret, your relationship with food truly transforms and the days of dieting, restriction and deprivation are finally left in the past. This means allowing yourself a few indulgences, but with a firm focus on healthy food choices. To help you, I have prepared another chocolate lovers recipe roundup to demonstrate the healthy way to enjoy chocolate. Bon appetit!

Cake for one, and excellent portion control made easy peasy. All you need is a small banana, 1 egg and 2 tablespoons of raw cacao powder. You'll need to add these to a food processor and then transfer the mixture to a greased mug. Zap in the microwave for around 1 minute or so until the recipe cooks into a cake-like texture.

This recipe is so ridiculously easy, my kids can make it unsupervised. Even though this is a sugar-free recipe, it's still a serving of high calories, so reserve for a treat once in a while, rather than a weekly recipe. Bananas are high-fibre and provide a good source of potassium, manganese and support healthy gut function.

Who wouldn't want a brownie or cheesecake! This is a clever recipe by Meera of Dumbbells & Oats that uses the goodness of oats to create a cheesecake-like cake base that has plenty of flavour without the chemicals and sugar you'd find in commercially bought versions. You can view Meera's recipe here. Oats are excellent for your gut health and provide a source of dietary fibre. If you use raw cacao instead of cocoa powder, you'll be enjoying a dose of mood boosting magnesium.

This recipe contains ZERO sugar, butter, or oil and while is still cake, it is far better than those you'll buy at the shops or make from a packet. Foodie blogger, Beth Baumgartner of The First Year, Something Sweet is always sharing yummy desserts but this is one I can happily recommend because its has some pretty healthy ingredients. Give it a go for your next birthday party and see if anyone notices the difference. Perhaps all they'll notice is just how moist and tasty this homemade recipe truly is!

Ok, so it's not exactly cake, but I have never met a chocolate lover that did not enjoy a good brownie. And this one by Keto fan, Kim of Kim Inspired DIY, will surprise you with just how good it tastes even though it only has 2 ingredients, egg and chocolate chips.

When I made it, I tried using Noshu Sugar-free Chocolate Chips and it worked just as well as regular. Dark chocolate chips are also an option. Typically a good quality dark chocolate is dairy-free and has way less junky ingredients than regular milk chocolate. Experiment and find what you like most, just remember to only have a small serving. Portion control is everything!

If you have worked with me, you know I am fiercely anti-diet and prefer to find healthy swaps for junk food favourites. Deprivation in my experience just leads to binges and negative spirals. So if you thought chocolate cakes were a thing of the past, here's a recipe you'll want to steal and make right now. This no-bake mousse-like pie is divine and a gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan recipe with a refined sugar free option!

Food enthusiast, Laura of Joy Food Sunshine has created a silky smooth chocolate dessert you just won't believe could be good for you. Just remember, portion control is everything; have small slice but girl. savour every mouthful!

Oh my goodness, if you love chocolate you are going to think you died and when to chochy heaven. This decadent dessert cake is a real treat and boasts only 3g of net carbs making it an approved but occasional treat. I'll let fellow fitspo, Joe Duff of The Diet Chef fame to share the goodness with you as its his recipe. You can thank us both later.

Serious chocolate flavour in this flourless recipe by Brandi of Stay Snacthed, made with all of the taste of decadent fudge. I know a lot of people are hesitant to try using avocado in healthy baking but once you get over this, you'll never look back. Avo provides a healthy fat and beautiful texture to cakes and puddings when sweetened with natural sugars and chocolate. Give this a go and say thank you Brandi for sharing here yummy recipe!

Which one of these was your favourite? Did you boldy make your own version substituting a few healthy food items on your own? I'd love to hear about it. Comment and share below.
